PHP Web Developers – SteamDesk Ltd, Alford
*** Please note, due to the excessive volume of calls, we are no longer happy to talk to recruitment agents ***
A full-time role for a strong PHP developer, with remuneration package in the £18-26K range, depending on experience.
We have occasional full-time vacancies for PHP developers, technically capable and experienced, and who will enjoy working in a fairly independent environment, often on multiple of projects at once for a range of our clients.
Ideal candidates are technically-minded graduates with commercial web development experience. We definitely require the following skills:
- PHP (version 5.3+)
- MySQL (version 5+) – Must have database design skills, understanding of link tables, normalisation, naming conventions, join/group queries, etc.
- Good understanding of HTML/CSS fundamentals. The ability to hand code HTML/CSS is essential.
- Experience with jQuery/DOM would be very positive.
We will not interview anyone without a portfolio of previous work (commercial or personal). Before interview we will expect to see some sample code (to assess quality).
The work is likely to consist of developing CMS, directory, and personal data recording systems in PHP with quite a large proportion of bespoke development. This is likely to be interspersed with occasional work on shopping cart/brochure sites. We also sometimes have a call for other skills including some legacy ones (e.g. ColdFusion, .NET), so experience in other areas or enthusiasm and adaptability will be a bonus. Our office development platforms are Windows and Linux based.
We are based in the small market town of Alford, at the edge of the Wolds in the East of Lincolnshire. Approximately 15 minutes drive from Skegness, 45 minutes from Grimsby, 55 minutes from Lincoln.
We are not interested in outsourcing, so please don’t contact us offering to out-source. Although we occasionally subcontract to established partner companies, for political reasons we never outsource jobs outside of the United Kingdom.
